Q – Why do some events cost more?
A – The size of your party, the menu selected, the location of your party, and any special requests will determine the price. We do offer on-site service for smaller events with a custom menu. We are happy to provide great foods for smaller events. Smaller parties cost more per person because the labor, fuel and other expenses do not change. Our average party size is around 75 guests plus and our prices reflect this smaller parties would cost a little more per head larger parties a little less.
A note on pricing – Our clients will find that our prices are comparable to what others offer, and our food, service, and attention to detail is unsurpassed. Thank you for your understanding; we do appreciate your business.
Q – What can we get for £3.00/ £4.00?
A – In truth not a lot much! Although a full size basic Hog roast for 200 guests can cost around £3.50 per head. We truly strive to keep our prices competitive, and offer only the best foods that we can obtain. We don’t cut corners like “the other guys”, and a great many of our clients are repeat customers. I do occasionally get the request for menu’s priced below what clients can do themselves ! While we do joke about it, the truth is that on average you can buy out from McDonalds for £5.00. Of course they don’t deliver or cook your burgers fresh on site either! Food is a highly competitive business, and we invite you to comparison shop our meal prices. Not only is the price right, but we also deliver great service too!
Q – What time will you arrive?
A -This will depend on what you require A Full Hog will take around 6½ hours to cook therefore we would arive around 8 hours prior to your serving time This allows us ample time to set up our equipment, and cook your meal fresh. smaller Hogs we will arrive around 6 hours prior. For BBQ’s & Paellas we arrive around 2 hours prior to service. As all our food is cooked fresh some items i.e. Hogs may take a little longer cooking depending on conditions. Please allow us a 30-45 minute serving window for larger parties.
Q – How long will you stay?
A – For most parties we will stay on site until all your guests have been served. We normally allow a 1½ /2 hours service time. Our goal is to provide excellent service for your event! If you need servers or cleanup crew to stay for an extended period, we can arrange for that too!
Q – How much space do you need?
A – We will arrive with our vehicle and our 8ft trailer so we do need enough space to safely park at your event. It is also important that we have ample room to leave after your guests are fed and happy. Most of our equipment will fit trough an average size back doorway but please be aware that carrying equipment through your home with a houseful of guests is not advisable If you have any questions, please ask us. Our modular gazebos come in units of 3M x3M so depending on your order will determine how many units you would require. When you book your event. Please don’t ask us to back into areas that are hard to access, or areas such as lawns where our equipment will do damage. We always treat your property like it was our own!
Q – How far in advance do I need to book?
A – Please feel free to book as early as possible. We often participate at weddings that have been booked a year or more in advance! As a family business, we can’t be in two places at the same time! many companies take a 50% deposit to reserve a date. We require a 25% deposit, and a signed contract. Holidays, Weekends and certain times of the year are very popular, so it is advisable to book as early as possible.
Q – Can you supply Beer and Alcohol at parties?
A – In some cercumstances we can provide a mobile bar service. We are also licencees of our own Pub and have a purpose built outside bar and Marquee . We often participate and host weddings and other functions that require drink service. All licensing and applicable laws are to be observed by the event host. Under no circumstances will we provide alcohol to minors.
Q – We are a registered charity do you offer special rates for us?
A – Yes we do! We often work with many charitable organisations. We always try to give a discounted rate to these organizations as a “thank you” to the community. Ask us about ways to help out at your next fund raiser or other special event!
Q – What about bad weather?
A – Boss Hogs Catering is a rain or shine all year round business! This being the U.K. the weather can be unpredictable, especially during the Autumn and Winter months. We have provided Hog Roasts & BBQ’s in all kinds of inclement weather Rain, Sleet or Snow we will simply cook your food under our gazebo shelters, transfer the food to your alternative eating area and serve you and your guests under cover. If it rains, don’t worry – we will still provide you with fresh food in a timely manner. N.B. For outdoor events, please make alternate arrangements for an indoor serving and eating area.
Q – Where can we have our party?
A – We travel all over Essex and surrounding counties our prices all include traveling within a 30 mile radius of our base in Braintree. We have catered events at hospitals, at many local parks, and corporate locations even outside a church for a carol service. We can also host your party at our own venue here in Braintree with a FREE marquee hire and a private outdoor bar.
Q – Can I change my menu or guest count?
A – If you would like to change your menu or the guest count, we will try our best to accommodate your needs. Certain foods are hard to prepare for. We will try to make menu changes with a two week notice, and adjust your guest count with a one week notice.
Q – Can I change my date?
A – Generally, the answer would be no. All of our dates are important to us. When we reserve your special day, it gives you the confidence to know we will be there for your event. It also prevents us from booking another party on that day, and losing other business opportunities…
Q – Do you charge a gratuity fee?
A – Unlike most of our competitors, we do not charge a mandatory gratuity fee. We feel it is up to our clients to reward superior service as they so choose- kind of like when you go out to dinner! A little extra something is appreciated, and we share it with the entire crew that works hard to make your event a success.
